The Mace bears the Watikah or the Establishment Order conferred to the University, which takes the form of a scroll signed by His Majesty the Yang diPertuan Agong on 20th May 1983.
Immensely useful to the scholars and future generation to appreciate the history of IIUM in the past. Convocation of the University each year witnesses the use of this instrument of authority, thus bring the history to life.
