The Qur'an is respectfully displayed in every IIUM Convocation. The handwritten text of the displayed Qur'an is the work of a well known local calligrapher, Tuan Haji Bachok Haji Sayuti, the University's very own Qur'anic teacher. He began the meticulous work in April 1987 and completed it in September of the same year. This manuscript has been officially approved by the Islamic Academy of Al-Azhar University.
Immensely useful to the scholars and future generation to appreciate the history of IIUM in the past. Convocation of the University each year witnesses the use of this instrument of authority, thus bring the history to life.
